DUBAILAND, a Dubai Properties Group (DPG) destination, today announced a host of entertainment activities and summer deals at a number of its attractions.
To beat the heat this summer, Dubailand has put together an exciting array of activities for families comprising an exclusively Thai shopping experience at Dubai Outlet Mall, indoor sports activities including cricket camps for children at Dubai Sports City, laser tag and karting at the Dubai Autodrome, and children’s summer workshops at the Desert Ranch in Al Sahra Desert Resort.
The popular Dubai Outlet Mall is hosting a festival, ‘Amazing Thailand’, as part of the 2011 Dubai Summer Surprises (DSS) theme from 1 – 31 July. The mall is decorated with ‘Thai’ elements to lend a festive ambience, while visitors are being offered the opportunity to experience Thai culture, entertainment and cuisine. Handicrafts and traditional merchandise that make for decorative knick knacks and memorabilia are also available at the mall.
Shopping at the Dubai Outlet Mall during DSS gives customers the opportunity to win daily shopping vouchers worth thousands of dirhams, in addition to exciting deals, discounts and offers, shoppers also stand a chance to win a trip for four to Bangkok every weekend on a minimum purchase of AED250.
Sports enthusiasts can expect to be busy this summer with a plethora of events lined up at Dubai Sports City which launched its first season of indoor cricket tournaments recently, and which is being played on a league basis. Winners of the tournament will take home a cash prize of AED4,000.
Additionally, a training camp in July will provide children between the ages of five to 14 years an opportunity to hone their skills in cricket. The summer camp initiative has been designed to introduce boys and girls to the game by using interactive programmes. .
Dubai Autodrome at Dubai Motor City has a thrilling line-up of activities for indoor family adventure. Adjacent to its outdoor karting track, is a state-of-the-art indoor complex features a challenging “under the roof” 500m track for indoor go-karting and also includes the Laserdrome – a “shoot ‘em up” laser tag game area built like a medieval castle starting from AED 90 per person.
The Desert Ranch is hosting a summer camp for the months of July and August for children between the ages of five to nine. The camp will offer a series of activities, including workshops on befriending and caring for animals, problem solving, creative tasks and team games. Held on Tuesdays from 7.00am – 12 noon, each session will be charged at AED250 per child.

Emaar Retail’s Leisure Attractions To Host A Summer Of Fun For Children At The Dubai Mall

Young ones will have the opportunity to enjoy a summer of fun and learning at The Dubai Mall, the world’s largest shopping and entertainment destination.
Emaar Retail LLC, a pioneer in innovative entertainment, leisure and retail concepts, is hosting special five-day summer camps that integrate fun with learning in some of the most popular leisure attractions in the city including At the Top, Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest observation deck with an outdoor terrace. Hosted for the second consecutive year, The Dubai Mall Summer Camp will be held from 9am to 3pm between July 3 and September 1, 2011.

Gulf Bike Week 2011 Promises Appealing Attractions For All

Bike enthusiasts and families can look forward to a line-up of activities that is sure to excite and entertain as the Gulf Bike Week stages an electrifying return from 10 to 12 February, 2011, at Dubai Festival City.
To be held under the patronage of His Excellency Mohammed Bin Sulayem, FIA Vice-President for Sport and President of the Automobile & Touring Club of the UAE (ATCUAE), Gulf Bike Week 2011 is organized by Clarion Events Middle East in partnership with Dubai Shopping Festival.
Besides a plethora of biking events, stunt shows, riding activities and the motorcycles themselves, this year’s edition of the Gulf Bike Week will feature Grammy award winning star singer Amy Winehouse. Also promised are other action-packed shows and activities for all the family, and performances from major international bands.
Additionally, a highlight of this year is the Charity Bike Ride – an essential part of Gulf Bike Week, which will bring together an exceptional community of individuals to help raise awareness for Autism. Motorcycle clubs from across the GCC will be coming to support this worthy cause. The ride is scheduled to take place on 11 February 2011, and well over 1,000 bikes are expected.
Super Moto racing, also referred to as Supermotard, has an elite collection of riders contending on both on-road and off-road tracks. The KTM Super Moto Live circuit during the Gulf Bike Week will see professional riders compete on a course specifically designed to highlight their skills. The competition, with a combination of speed, excitement and danger, is designed to draw gasps of awed amazement from the audience and unveil just one rider as the ultimate biker.
Integral to the Gulf Bike Week is the Red Bull FMX Stunt Area where spectators can witness incredible jumps and stunts. The participating high-flying daredevil bikers will thrill, excite and amaze the audience in the second Red Bull Freestyle Motocross by Red Bull.

Competing for action sports supremacy, these contestants will battle in a variety of divisions and age groups, creating a platform for a cross range of contenders. In addition, the Rage team will conduct skating clinics and demonstrations for action sports enthusiasts.
The much celebrated and acclaimed ‘in show’ Bike Park is once again to make a stunning appearance at the Gulf Bike Week. Set in the very heart of the show the ‘in show’ Bike Park is open to all motorcycle clubs from across the region and also to all individual bike owners who are not affiliated to a club.
The popular and customary musical finale to the Gulf Bike Week will be led by a performance by Grammy award winner Amy Winehouse. Also performing will be international superstar Pharrell Williams with his band N*E*R*D, and special guest Mike Posner – adding musical variety and excitement to the event. Fresh talent will also capture the arena, as a spirited Rolling Stone Middle East ‘Battle of the Bands’ contest will be held on the Rolling Stone Stage on 11 and 12 February, resulting in two exceptionally memorable nights.

DSS Attractions Unveiled Highlighting Dubai As Summer Destination Of Surprises

The Dubai Events and Promotions Establishment (DEPE) has unveiled the main highlights of the 13th edition of Dubai Summer Surprises that begins on June 17th and runs for 52 days till August 7th. With a budget of AED 60 million, this year’s DSS includes international shows, musicals, events, shopping promotions across Dubai, and prizes to be won throughout malls. Modhesh World, the region’s biggest indoor edutainment venue, is also a major attraction of DSS.
Laila Suhail, Chief Executive Officer of DEPE said, "We have endeavoured to present a spectacular combination of attractions that create a comprehensive holiday package for all visitors and residents in Dubai during DSS. These efforts are in line with our marketing slogan for this year, ’Dubai, your summer destination of surprises.’"
