In order to spread awareness across the community at large, the newly launched ‘Safe Home Campaign’ by Dubai Electricity & Water Authority (DEWA) is steering itself through select DEWA Customer Care Centers and Eros Digital Home Stores, and reaching out to people visiting these centers in Dubai. This educational campaign aims at raising awareness about the causes of electrical fires, by giving easy tips on how to be ‘Better Safe Than Sorry’ this summer, through specially set up kiosks at Eros Digital Home outlets located at Deira City Center, Mall of the Emirates, Lamcy Plaza and Arabian Center. Kiosks are also set up across DEWA Customer Care Centers located at the DEWA Head Office at Garhoud, Al Wasel, Umm Al Ramool, and Al Tawar. Visitors are given educational leaflets about safety measures and are invited to fill in response forms indicating simple symptoms of fire that invariably tend to get ignored by householders. It has been noted that people expose themselves to electrical mishaps due to ignorance on their part. Many a times people tend to ignore simple symptoms as a result of the ideal human mindset that is conditioned to think that nothing bad will ever happen to them, maybe others.
Speaking on the extension of this initiative, HE Mr. Saeed Al Tayer, MD and CEO of DEWA said, “Safety is a major part of the DEWA strategy and play an active role in all our policies.” HE mentioned that this educational campaign is launched to maintain safety of our consumers
Mr. Sonjib Banerjee, Technical Director, Duval Messien, said, “The campaign aims to further percolate the message of ‘Safe Home’ across all households by inviting public to share information indicating electrical threat at their respective homes. Feedback and insight taken from the home safety research will be shared with DEWA to enable a fully integrated plan of safety in the home.”
Mr. Deepak Babani, CEO, Eros Group, said, “The extension of this drive to select DEWA Customer Care Centers and Eros Digital Home Stores further reinstates our endeavor towards the safety of homes across Dubai. As a leading regional distributor of electrical appliances and equipments, we have the aftercare responsibility towards our customers and the spread of this campaign only strengthens our pledge that people sleep assured that they have taken every precaution and are safe at home.’’
