The Dubai Events and Promotions Establishment, the government entity that organizes Dubai Shopping Festival and Dubai Summer Surprises, will have a significant presence in Character Dubai 2010 through Modhesh, the popular children’s character, and Modhesh World, one of the best known family entertainment destinations in the region.
Character Dubai is the first and only dedicated trade event in the Middle East for production, marketing and licensing of cartoon characters, animation, logos, films, brands, arts and designs, and will be held from November 29th to December 1st, 2010, at Hall 3, 4, and 5 of the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre. The event is held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Majid Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Culture and Arts Authority. The 2009 edition witnessed the participation of more than 150 companies, an attendance of over 12,000 visitors, and saw deals worth over $100 million signed in a span of three days.
The Dubai Events and Promotions Establishment is an official supporter of Character Dubai through Modhesh World. The Modhesh World booth, located at Hall 3 and occupying the largest space in the hall, will give trade visitors from all over the world an opportunity to know more about the venue and Modhesh the character.
Laila Suhail, Chief Executive Officer of Dubai Events and Promotions Establishment, said, “Character Dubai is a pioneering initiative and is notably the Middle East’s only licensing, entertainment, and content event. The character and licensing industry is a burgeoning one and holds immense prospect in this part of the world. Modhesh was the first character to come out of the UAE in the year 2000 and it is only natural for DEPE to support Character Dubai through Modhesh World which was also the first of its kind when launched.”
“Our support for Character Dubai is also due to our commitment to help expand the character industry in the region. The DEPE has been a platform for many local, regional, and international characters through its festivals such as Dubai Shopping Festival, Dubai Summer Surprises, and ‘Eid in Dubai’. Numerous international characters have made their Middle East debut during these festivals and our aim is to attract more characters,” added Laila.
The 2011 edition of Modhesh World will open to visitors with around 37,000 square feet of entertainment and edutainment activities for children of all ages. Modhesh will also feature prominently in the Modhesh World booth and will welcome visitors to the stand. Over a thousand Modhesh products are currently available across the region as part of the merchandising initiative and some of these products will be on display at the stand.
