Emaar Hospitality Group and ’A Helping Hand’ raise AED 165,000 for Medecins Sans Frontieres

Emaar Hospitality Group joined hands with ’A Helping Hand,’ a group of students from The American School of Dubai, to host a fund-raising dinner for Medecins Sans Frontières (MSF). The annual event, ’Dinner on the Greens’ was held recently at The Montgomerie Dubai with the support of the Red Crescent and raised AED 165,000 to fund medication for an epidemic in West Africa. Médecins Sans Frontières will vaccinate over seven million people for free in Chad, Niger and Nigeria, in one of the worst meningitis epidemics in five years, as reported by United Nations.Mr Marc Dardenne, Chief Executive Office, Emaar Hospitality Group and Emaar Hotels & Resorts said: "A Helping Hand is a model charity organization led by students and through this event they not only contribute to society but also further strengthen their personal development and societal commitment. UAE Nationals dominate The Dubai Mall raffle winners

Dubai Marina Yacht Club Wins ’Best New Asian Marina/Yacht Club’ At Asia Boating Awards 2009

Dubai Marina Yacht Club, the recently opened yacht club and marina owned and managed by Emaar Hospitality Group, was voted ‘Best New Asian Marina/Yacht Club’ at the Asia Boating Awards held recently in Shanghai.

The Asia Boating Awards have been running for five consecutive years and recognize the efforts being made to develop the leisure marine industry in Asia. A panel of over 18 judges was formed with key industry leaders to adjudicate the awards which honour yacht builders, marinas, charter companies, personality and design representatives who have made a difference in the maritime industry.

Mr Steve Stiglbauer, General Manager, Dubai Marina Yacht Club, said, “Since our opening in November we have had a very positive response from our members and visitors. Established 16 years ago, the awards encourage tourism organisations to set new boundaries for customer service, value and innovation. The winners are selected by votes from agents and travel professionals globally.

The Address Hotels + Resorts enters Europe with Domaine de Lavagnac management contract

The Address Hotels + Resorts, the home-grown 5 star premium hotel brand of Emaar Hospitality Group, has marked its entry into the European market with a management contract to operate Domaine de Lavagnac, a luxury resort developed by Residence De Lavagnac SARL in Languedoc-Roussillon, South of France. The European expansion of The Address brand was announced today at a press conference held on the sidelines of the Arabian Travel Market (ATM). Mr Charles Cox, Chairman of Residence De Lavagnac SARL and Mr Marc Dardenne, Chief Executive Officer, Emaar Hospitality Group and Emaar Hotels & Resorts, signed the management agreement in the presence of Mr Eric Perez, Project Manager, Residence De Lavagnac SARL and Mr Patrick Heuze, Senior Director – Hospitality Asset Management & Development, Emaar Properties PJSC.  Scheduled to open in 2011, Domaine de Lavagnac is the first five star tourism development in Languedoc and comprises a 17th century chateau that is beingtransformed into a 70 suite hotel located in close proximity to the Mediterranean coast. Dating back to the Gallo-Roman era, the chateau is one of the finest in South of France and a fitting centerpiece for the premier property development.  Featuring a spa and golf course, the property is billed to be an exclusive golf-spa retreat and poised to drive the tourism growth of Languedoc. The 1,000 sq m spa retreat will be one of the largest in the region and will feature spacious lounge areas bathed in natural light and indoor pools to provide the perfect place to unwind where a range of relaxing and rejuvenating treatments and exercise classes will be on offer to pamper visitors. Bidding For Two Hours To Win A Bargain Deal

Bidding feverishly for two hours, the winner of the Bid 2 Win auction for a Bose Lifestyle 48 Series IV DVD Home Entertainment System at The Dubai Mall got a bargain deal, saving about 30 per cent on the price of the product.Mrs Colleen Birla, an Indian expatriate, was the winner of the second Bid 2 Win, a unique event being organised as part of the Festival@The Dubai Mall. She had wanted to buy a home entertainment system and visited the mall hearing about the Bid 2 Win event.She and her husband bid for close to two hours over SMS, and eventually Mrs Birla made the biggest bid for AED 11,550 as the event drew to a close at 9pm. The original price of the home entertainment system, courtesy of Plug-Ins, is AED 15,999.Mrs Birla said she liked the concept of bidding by SMS, adding that it was very professionally organised. She said she will return to the mall this weekend to see the products that go up for bidding.Bid 2 Win is held on Fridays and Saturdays. It is an innovative retail event, wherein visitors to the mall only have to SMS the product code of the items on display at the mall to Etisalat 4643. Bidders first register to participate in the auction at the same number.Bids open at 10am and continue until 9pm.
