In a climate of increasing competition and change, there is a need to provide ideal working environments to attract local talent and encourage creativity and excellence. It is in light of the ongoing efforts of His Highness Sheikh Majid bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Chairman of the Dubai Culture & Arts Authority, to encourage qualified nationals to participate in the labour market that the Private Office of His Highness has announced its participation in Careers UAE 2011 for the third consecutive year in order to launch the Majid bin Mohammed UAE Nationals Training Initiative.

Careers UAE 2011, in its 11th edition, is being held from 21 to 23 March, at the Dubai World Trade Centre, under the auspices of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice-President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai. The most affluent recruitment, education and training event for all UAE nationals, it is considered to be an event of the utmost importance as it contributes to the empowerment of UAE nationals by providing suitable employment opportunities along with its promotion of Emiratisation.

Within this framework, Careers UAE is the perfect platform to launch the comprehensive training initiative aimed at strengthening the confidence of young nationals and securing their future, thus providing stability and improved livelihoods for themselves and their families. Under this initiative, young nationals are given a choice to join between three programs: Management Training Program, National Coaching Program, and Initiatives Management Training. The Management Training Program allows young candidates the opportunity to experience professional training in leading global companies; the program starts in June for a period of no less than six months. The National Coaching Program will also commence in June for a period of no less than three months, allowing qualified nationals a chance to train intensively to hone their skills, among a group of leading national companies in the country. The Initiatives Management Training program provides an opportunity for its members to participate in an array of future initiatives throughout the year.

The ultimate strength of the initiatives is that they open the doors for professional training opportunities for all qualified UAE nationals, as they work under the guidance of major companies, institutions, and consultancies, and private institutions. This will equip them with the right skills and requirements to secure the best jobs in the market. This is noteworthy because it has been shown through studies that training leads to improved and enhanced performance, which in turn translates to increased wages by as much as 4 to 11%. Companies that hire trained employees will also bear the fruit of this success with increased profit rates brought in by more efficient employees. The same studies also show that an increase in training expenditure by 10% translates into an increase in productivity of up to 3%, which ultimately means training programmes are of vital importance when it comes to Emaratisation in various business sectors across the UAE. This initiative will also interject more qualified nationals into the labour market, and promote local production.

The initiative is being held in partnership with major global and national consulting firms and companies including: "Deloitte Middle East", "Ernst & Young", "IMG", "KPMG", "Price Waterhouse Coopers", "Profiles International Middle East,” "Desert Group", the Emirates Medical Group, "Sharaf DG," and “Saeed and Mohammed Al Naboodah Group of Companies”. These partnerships ensure that the training programmes are operated according to the highest International standards.

Through this initiative, Careers UAE 2011 will provide the ideal platform to improve and hone in on the skills of young nationals allowing them a competitive edge in the market by meeting with a range of exhibitors who specialize in training and human development. They will also be able to meet face to face with representatives of leading national and international companies to achieve their desired employment aspirations.

Applications and interviews for admission into the different programs of the initiative will be carried out during Careers UAE 2011, 21-23 March, at the pavilion of the Private Office of His Highness Sheikh Majid bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.

Luxury In Grand Style: The New Audi A8 L Launched In The UAE

Audi is introducing its new flagship model. The A8 L quattro with a long wheelbase sets new standards of luxury, dynamism and efficiency in the top automobile manufacturing league. The Audi A8 L will be launched as a 372 hp 4.2 liter V8 with eight-speed tiptronic and quattro four-wheel drive, but will be available with further engines in 2011. “The Audi A8 L is the most important model for Audi in the Middle East for the next five or six years. It will be one of our top sellers. We are aiming to gain significant market share in the German premium D-segment and expecting four digit annual sales figures for the Middle East region” says Audi Middle East MD, Jeff Mannering.

Customers for the top model value comfort, style and prestige, which is why Audi designed the A8 long-wheelbase version for both those with chauffeurs and those who drive themselves. Every bit of the additional 13 centimeters benefits the rear seat passengers. The seats can be ventilated and adjusted in a variety of ways and the optional reclining seat behind the front passenger’s seat offers first-class luxury as in an airplane, featuring a footrest that folds out from the front passenger seat, an adjustable backrest and massage function. Among the optional features that promote relaxed travel or alternatively concentrated work in this mobile lounge are a folding table, a refrigerator, and a Rear Seat Entertainment system with access to its own DVD drive, hard drive jukebox, SD memory card readers, as well as a separate Audi music interface. The two 10.2-inch screens are the largest screens available within the immediate field of competitors. First class quality of workmanship is applied to every detail – from the ambient lighting through the accurately fitted switches with their precise click action. Audi exclusive customization options from quattro GmbH make the already highly luxurious Audi A8 L even more distinctive by tailoring both interior and exterior to the taste of the owner’s preferences.

The new A8 is a concentrated high-tech package that confirms the Audi claim to technical leadership – “Vorsprung durch Technik”. The touch-sensitive control panel known as MMI touch allows the driver to input navigation destination or a telephone number simply by writing on the pad with a finger. The high-end navigation system operates with high resolution 3D graphics and can be paired with adaptive cruise control system, the Audi side assist system, which helps the driver to change lanes, Audi lane assist, which detects any departure from the chosen lane, or the optional night vision assistant. The new Audi pre sense safety system is closely linked to the assistance systems. It is available in several stages: the full version brakes the car automatically in order to minimize the consequences of a nose-to-tail collision. Standard features include the Audi drive select system, adaptive air suspension, as well as the Audi sound system, which can be upgraded to the top-of-the-range Bang & Olufsen Advanced Sound System with more than 1,400 Watts and 19 speakers. The high-end full LED headlights are available as an option. Two sunroof options allow plenty of light in the interior: the electric solar sunroof or optional panoramic sun roof, which has the further advantage of a second, tilting rear section including with a separate sunblind, which can be operated from the front and rear of the car.

The Audi A8’s 4.2 FSI V8 engine draws 372 hp of power from 4,163 cc displacement and 445 Nm of torque at 3,500 rpm and accelerates the large sedan from zero to 100 km/h in 5.8 seconds. In the EU cycle it consumes just 9.7 liters/100 km and emits 224 grams of CO2/km, a reduction of 1.2 liters or eleven percent over the predecessor while power increased by 26 hp. Efficiency is a built in feature of the Audi A8 L, which employs among many other features an energy recuperation system and achieves a weight advantage of about 40 percent over a comparable steel body thanks to the aluminium Audi Space Frame (ASF) principle.

The new Audi A8 L is available as of now starting from AED 358,000.

Dubai American Scientific School (DASS), a private school providing high-quality American education in Dubai, has recently signed an agreement with Mosaica Education, Inc., a global leader in education reform, to implement a new education model tailor-made for schools in the Middle East and North Africa. Under the agreement, the specially developed education model, which combines the best practices of the American education system with the region’s cultural values and heritage, will initially be implemented at DASS in Dubai and will gradually be introduced to other private schools as part of a wide-scale initiative to overhaul and enhance the education system across the region.

Up to 80 per cent of the UAE population is made up of foreign nationals, while several other countries in the Middle East likewise feature a high percentage of expatriate population. This highlights the importance of implementing a specialised education model that considers the cultural diversity present in schools across the region.

Hikmat AlHaj Al-Kaitoob, Vice Chairman, DASS, said: “With its rich history of contribution to knowledge, the Middle East is a natural venue for such a powerful partnership and a groundbreaking learning concept. Having a student population that represents diverse cultures, the Dubai American Scientific School, for its part, is uniquely positioned to launch this education model, which we hope to introduce throughout the region. DASS had been on the lookout for the best K-12 education provider and we are pleased that Mosaica has come up with an education model that we believe is best suited for the Middle East. We are thrilled to be part of this groundbreaking initiative, which we believe will also complement the goal of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, of raising the standards and quality of education in the region.”

Michael J Connelly, Chief Executive Officer of Mosaica, added: "Mosaica has developed a new educational model that integrates the best practices of the American education system with the region’s cultural values and heritage, optimising the learning experience and protecting the sensitivities of children from different cultural backgrounds. We believe that Dubai American Scientific School is the ideal partner for the launch of this education model because of the school’s excellent track record and its unique schooling philosophy that embraces modern and innovative education concepts. We are confident that DASS will successfully help us illustrate the great value and importance of the new education model, which will ultimately encourage private investors, governments and other education stakeholders to adopt this powerful education concept in private and public schools across the Middle East."

DASS is a high-quality K-12 private school in Dubai that is renowned for its unique and modernschooling philosophy that applies the rules of scientific research to the education model. The school features a highly competent teaching staff and is managed by a school board made up of prominent members of the UAE’s education sector.

Mosaica currently operates over 80 elementary, middle and high school programs in the USA and other countries, and has served more than 40,000 students in the last 13 years. Building on its extensive experience working with a variety of schools, Mosaica has been developing independent and private schools around the world, providing quality education programs tailored to their particular needs and cultures.
