The ‘Dubai Smiles Healthy’ campaign by the Dubai Health Authority has got off to a rousing start at Modhesh World with the aim of educating people about dental health.
“Children are very scared of dentists and since the problem is not visible a visit to the dentist is always neglected on a regular basis leading to huge dental disorders and even more pain in the future. The campaign is about teaching children to ensure healthy teeth and then to have a proactive approach to dental problems. It is important to take children to the dentists every six months for regular checkups,” said Dr. Khaled Farghaly, Specialist Registrar, Dental Regional Manager at Department of Health and Medical Services.
“Keeping in mind the fear and relatively boring nature of maintaining dental hygiene, we have made it as exciting and full of fun as we could. Also, Modhesh World is the right place for this educational campaign as a huge number of children and families as a whole are present here in large numbers.” said Jassim Bin Kalban, Public Relations Officer, Dubai Health Authority and Member of Organizing Committee of Dubai Summer Surprises.
The area surely did not resemble a dreary dentist’s visiting room but was indeed very colourful and attracted little kids who enjoyed learning brushing movements on cute soft toys. Colour books taught children subtly the different aspects of using and keeping teeth clean. Games for children had them choosing healthy food and unhealthy food that would lead to cavities thus telling them silently but strongly that it was on them to choose the right food on a daily basis.
Children were also given gifts including tooth brushes, toothpastes and other accessories which enabled them to take home the lesson learnt in a fun way at Modhesh World.
Modhesh World doors open at 10.00am – 10:00pm from Saturdays to Wednesdays, from 10:00am – 12midnight on Thursdays, 3:00pm – 12midnight on Fridays. Tickets to the venue are priced at AED 10 – adults and 15 for kids with numerous free games and rides.
