Dubai Properties Group CEO Graduates From Government Leaders Programme

Dubai Properties Group (DPG), a member of Dubai Holding, today announced its Group Chief Executive OfficerKhalid Al Malikhas successfully graduated from the Government Leaders’ Programme, a component of the Mohammed bin Rashid Programme for Leadership Development.

Khalid Al Malik received his certificate of completion from His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, at a ceremony held at the Grand Hyatt in Dubai.

DEWA Partners With Dubai Properties Group To Raise Awareness On Energy And Environment Conservation

Dubai Properties Group, a member of Dubai Holding, has partnered with Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) as part of its ‘Responsible Living’ campaign to raise awareness on the importance of energy, water and environment conservation.

The initiative features a road show with a specially designed DEWA bus travelling through select DPG communities to share ideas on responsible living. The road show visited the Layan community on 14 July and the Al Khail Gate on 21 July.

During the stop overs, residents of the two communities were invited on-board the DEWA bus for a series of presentations on energy saving. DEWA staff also interacted and shared important conservation tips with children to help them contribute to the well-being of the community. Souvenirs were given away to the participants at the conclusion of the three-hour road show.

An invitation to participate in the annual DEWA ‘Best Consumer Award’ was extended to tenants at both the Layan and Al Khail Gate developments.

Emaar Properties PJSC To Hold 13th Annual General Meeting On March 28, 2011

Emaar Properties PJSC will hold its 13th Annual General Meeting on Monday, March 28, 2011, at 5pm at the Constellation Ballroom of The Address Dubai Marina.

The AGM will discuss and approve the report of the Board of Directors on the activities and financial position of the company and the company’s balance sheet. The AGM will also discuss the appointment of the Auditors for 2011.

In 2010, Emaar recorded a net operating profit of AED 3.034 billion (US$ 826 million), 31 percent higher than the net operating profit of AED 2.324 billion (US$ 633 million) recorded in 2009. Annual revenue for 2010 was AED 12.150 billion (US$ 3.308 billion), 44 percent higher than the 2009 revenues of AED 8.413 billion (US$ 2.29 billion).

The company’s shopping malls & retail and hospitality subsidiaries contributed significantly to the revenues for the year, highlighting the successful creation of recurring revenue streams for Emaar. Approximately 24 percent of the total revenues were from these two business segments with shopping malls & retail revenues of AED 1.9 billion (US$ 517 million), and hospitality revenues of approximately AED 1 billion (US$ 272 million).

Emaar Properties will continue to focus on its strategy of creating prime real estate assets, and strengthening its shopping malls & retail and hospitality & leisure businesses in 2011, which is expected to be a signature year as international operations contribute significantly to the revenue stream.

Visitors to Dubai, sailing with Royal Caribbean International, will be able to visit The Walk at Jumeirah Beach Residence and key attractions at DUBAILAND® under an agreement between Dubai Properties Group (DPG) and the world’s largest cruise line.

It is the second season that DPG and Royal Caribbean International are working together to make many well-known tourist destinations in Dubai available in Royal Caribbean’s 7 and 12 night cruise itineraries through the gulf and India.

The Walk at Jumeirah Beach Residence is a lifestyle, shopping and leisure destination known for its stunning beach-side setting. The diversity of food, beverage, entertainment and cultural offerings has made The Walk at JBR a must-see for tourists.

Other key destinations in DUBAILAND® will also be promoted in Royal Caribbean’s pre and post cruise tour land packages, as well as on-shore excursion programmes. Emaar Properties AGM Declares 10 Per Cent Cash Dividend

Emaar Properties PJSC, the global property developer, declared ten per cent cash dividend at the 13th Annual General Meeting held in Dubai on Monday, March 28, 2011.

At the AGM, the assembly approved the report of the Board of Directors on the activities and financial position of the company and the balance sheet, and granted approval for the members of the Board to carry on activities relating to real estate. The Assembly also appointed Deloitte as the Auditors for the year 2011.

Addressing the shareholders, Mr Mohamed Alabbar, Chairman, Emaar Properties, said the vision for the company is “to be further recognised as the developer of world icons supported by superior performing subsidiaries and country operations that operate as stand-alone profit centres.”

Emaar has total assets of AED 62.5 billion (US$ 17 billion) of which international assets are valued at AED 22.47 billion (US$ 6.12 billion). In 2010, Emaar recorded a net operating profit of AED 3.034 billion (US$ 826 million), 31 per cent higher than the net operating profit of AED 2.324 billion (US$ 633 million) recorded in 2009.

Annual revenue for 2010 was AED 12.150 billion (US$ 3.308 billion), 44 per cent higher than the 2009 revenues of AED 8.413 billion (US$ 2.29 billion). Revenue from international operations accounted for AED 973 million (US$ 265 million), nearly eight per cent of the total.

Highlighting the strong fundamentals of the company, Emaar successfully executed two public offerings including the Convertible Bond of US$ 500 million in September 2010 and US$ 500 million Sukuk in January 2011 to overwhelming investor response. These offerings were the first by a corporate entity out of the region, following the global financial slowdown.

In 2010, Emaar underscored its global credentials in project delivery with the grand inauguration of Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building, now described as a Global Icon and ‘A Living Wonder.’ Emaar delivered more than 3,100 units in the UAE in 2010, nearly one-fourth of them in Burj Khalifa. Emaar stressed on project completion in its international markets too, with the handover of over 420 units last year.

Emaar Properties Enters Collaboration With Emirates Healthcare Limited (EHL) On Healthcare Portfolio

Emaar Healthcare Group, the healthcare subsidiary of Emaar Properties PJSC, has entered into a collaboration with Emirates Healthcare Limited (EHL), an international healthcare service provider with a strong presence in the region, on its healthcare portfolio. As part of the agreement, which takes effect on January 15, 2011, EHL will operate The Dubai Mall Medical Centre, the Arabian Ranches and Meadows clinics.

Emaar Properties PJSC Honoured By SCA For Commitment To Corporate Governance

Emaar Properties PJSC has been honoured by the Emirates Securities and Commodities Authority (SCA) for implementing and complying with the new UAE Code of Governance within the stipulated timeframe.

Emaar, together with a number of other public joint stock companies, was honoured at a special ceremony held in Abu Dhabi recently under the auspices of His Excellency Engineer Sultan bin Saeed Al-Mansoori, Minister of Economy and SCA Board Chairman.

His Excellency Abdullah Al-Turifi, SCA Chief Executive Officer and Her Excellency Maryam Al-Suwaidi, Deputy CEO for Legal Affairs, Issuance and Research, SCA, presented the memento to Emaar.

His Excellency Abdullah Al-Turifi praised Emaar and the other companies, which were honoured at the ceremony, for their prompt response in complying with the new corporate governance rules. He said that the ceremony reflected the SCA’s commitment to ensure the entrenchment of a culture of corporate governance, disclosure and transparency in accordance with international best practice.

Mr Ahmad Al Matrooshi, Managing Director, Emaar Properties, said: “The honour from SCA underscores our commitment to uphold the highest standards of corporate governance. We will continue to implement global best practices in disclosure and transparency, and thus enable our stakeholders to make informed decisions.”

The new UAE Code of Governance came into force on May 1, 2010.
